Expect The Largemouth Bass Bite To Improve

September 23, 2014

Thank goodness our long, relatively hot summer is coming to a close. Although the bass fishing has remained good throughout the past few months, the number of people fishing dramatically drops as the temperature rises, and who can blame them. This is the time of year I usually set aside for boat repairs/improvements, catching up on chores I’ve been putting off, all while trying to beat the heat. Oh, let’s not forget about football. Although fishing on the Ocklawaha River is pretty good year around, it’s much better during the cooler months of the year, especially if you are after that Trophy Bass. Expect the Stripers to start running up the spring fed […]

Be Careful Out There

May 27, 2009

This Ocklawaha Fishing Report From Ocklawaha Fishing Guide Captain Nick Be Careful Out There We fished the Oklawaha River Saturday, 5/23, and man was it up.. About 2 feet from where it was a week ago! The bite was slow, although we did manage a few small Bass, as well as one over four pounds.  I expect the fishing to greatly improve as soon as the level stabilizes… Our hearts go out to the families involved in the Memorial Day weekend boating fatalities on Lake George. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to run from storms on […]
