Thank goodness our long, relatively hot summer is coming to a close. Although the bass fishing has remained good throughout the past few months, the number of people fishing dramatically drops as the temperature rises, and who can blame them.
This is the time of year I usually set aside for boat repairs/improvements, catching up on chores I’ve been putting off, all while trying to beat the heat. Oh, let’s not forget about football.
As I mentioned, the Bass fishing has remained good throughout our region, and I expect the bite to improve with the fall. Saturday morning, 9/20, I fished for about 2 hours and caught 7 Bass, with 3 of them over 5 pounds. Pretty good for this time of year.
Also, big numbers of shrimp are being taken on “Little Lake George”, as well as some really nice Flounder. Look for the shrimp in the deeper, sandy bottom areas.
Good numbers of Trophy Bass are just around the corner. Time to make reservations for that trip of a lifetime!
Until next time, See you on the River
