Cedar Key Inshore Fishing Report
The redfish have been on fire, reports are coming in that you can see them swimming in packs. Fish for them using the same techniques as usual, jig heads tipped with shrimp or mullet or a popping cork with 30# leader and using live shrimp, finger mullet or mud minnows.
They are plentiful around any of the islands and oyster bars. The speckled trout, black drum and mackerel are doing well too. We have also had some tarpon caught and I have seen 2 over 5 feet jump while fishing.
Cedar Key Off Offshore Fishing Report
The red tide issue is about gone, the water clarity is good and lots of bait pods are around. We are catching good sized gags n red grouper in 40 to 50 ft. Using live pins and frozen mullet, thread fins, sardines, northern mackerel and menhaden.
There is still a lot of floating grass, so trolling 30+ plugs can be a problem. We caught a 30lb cobia on Friday, so I look for the kings and cobia to be making another run Thursday so be prepared and always throw a free line out while your bottom fishing, please remember to keep your drag set loose.
