A Good Half Day
On a recent trip to the Grass Flats off the Levy and Citrus County Coasts, we caught several “Gator Trout” along with the usual “by catch”, as well as 5 slot sized Redfish.
Got kind of a late start, left the dock at 10:30 a.m., but caught the last of a good flood tide. Headed north from the Withalocochee River entrance about 5 miles, and started drifting for Trout in the Lowes Bay Area.
Only fished from about 11 a.m. until 2, but for that short period of time, the bite was definitely on. To top it off, most of the Reds were pushing the top of the slot, and the smallest Trout caught was 18 inches long.
Had to get back to Ocala by 4, so we called it a day. Not bad for a three hour tour.
