An Indian Summer
Well I’ve heard it called Indian summer. Summertime weather in October.
What ever it is, it’s hot. After the little cool down we had two weeks ago, water temps are back up in the low 80’s. We should be experiencing a strong shallow water bite by now. Instead we are Trout fishing in 6-9 foot deep flats. We do have sandtrout though. Reds are scattered and unpredictable, but can be found.
In the picture you will see Meacy Morton from the Atlanta area with, what I call, a bonus fish. She hooked the small Tarpon while we were Redfishing.
Landing a fish much bigger probably would not have happened on 10lb tackle. This Tarpon gave us 5 or 6 big jumps. We guessed it to be about 30lbs. Goes to prove what people always say ” you never know what you might catch on the flats”.
God Bless and Good Fishing
