Andy sportin a big Speckled Trout
Cedar Key’s November Inshore Fishing Report
The Redfish are hit and miss right now, when the cold fronts come through they seem to move back into the marsh areas. And when the normal warm weather is here they are biting as usual around the islands, bars and oyster bars … and as usual, shrimp, cut mullet and mud minnows are working best.
The Speckled Trout are liking the cooler weather, use a popping cork with shrimp or your favorite plastic baits. All of the 3-5′ grass flats are good, behind snake, Deadman’s, North & Gomez keys, also west & east bank are producing too.
The water temp keeps changing this time of year and it seems best fishing is on an in-coming tide mid day, but all of the fish get frisky and hungry this time of year too so fishing is good and its not to hot either.

Cedar Key’s November Offshore Fishing Report
Well, with this cooler weather, the fish are hungry and the regulations have cut us back some on what we can harvest but still it’s always fun to catch n release.
The Red grouper and Amberjacks are shut down now but they are biting good and must release unharmed, please.
The Red Grouper will hit any frozen baits and the AJ’S prefer live bait or butterfly jigs, we have been catching some big ones too and plenty of small ones, either way they fight hard.
The Gag Grouper have been biting real good in 25-45′ on the live & hard bottom areas, they seem to love live bait but always start out using frozen baits to get them fired up, plus the Grunts and Sea Bass are plentiful and tasty too.
We still have been seeing bait pods so the mackerel are around too, we usually set out a free line out back to try and catch them while we are bottom fishing, but trolling plugs works well and you can pick up some nice gags at the same time.
Just watch the weather & wind report and get out there while the fishing is hot!
Time to fill your coolers and enjoy the day on the water. As always we’ll keep you posted! Till next time “Safe boating n tight lines”
