Cedar Key’s October Inshore Fishing Report

The fall weather seems to be heating up the fishing. The trout are biting good on all the grass flats, around snake, north, dead mans, and sea horse key’s, in the 3′ to 5′ area’s. Using popping corks and live shrimp or your favorite plastic baits. The Mackerel have shown up too, as well as the triple tail, sharks, Black Drum, and Red Fish.

The Redfish are hitting good around the oyster bars and islands, fish on the bottom using a knocker rig or just a jig head with cut mullet, finger mullet or live shrimp.

All of the fishing has been good, as the water temp changes these fish get frisky and fishing gets exciting.

Come on down and enjoy the good weather and hot fishing bite.

Cedar Key’s October Offshore Fishing Report

The fishing is good offshore too, the Red Grouper are shut down till next year, kind of a bummer but hopefully this will just help us all out in the near future for more keeper size fish.

The Gags are biting good in 28′ to 60′ on the hard bottom area’s using threadfins, cut mullet, northern mackerel and of coarse, live pinfish.

The Amber Jacks are still in season and plentiful on the offshore wrecks and rock piles, they love live bait or butterfly jigs, when you go out to 90′ or deeper they aren’t as picky but no need to go that far.

The Mackerel have shown back up, both Spanish and Kings. They can be found in the Kingfish Hole area and just off Sea Horse Reef, some people troll and some just free line baits out back while bottom fishing, so you kill two birds at same time. If you set out a chum bag, that will attract them too.

There is always plenty of Grunts and Sea Bass, the Sea Bass will really turn on later in the year when they start spawning too.

The fall weather is approaching and the fish love it, so come on down and jump in the fun.
