Cedar Key Florida Inshore Fishing Report
The Speckled trout are getting fired up, they are loving this warm weather and the redfish are coming out to play as well. The Trout like popping corks with shrimp, gulps or your favorite plastic baits in 3-5 ft of water on the grass flats and oyster bar areas. The redfish will hit the same thing, but seem to love cut mullet, finger mullet and mud minnows with just a jig head on the bottom, change to a cork if you keep losing rigs to the oysters. The sheepshead are biting around piers and rock piles, they’re not on fire yet, but they will crank it up any day now.
Cedar Key Florida Offshore Fishing Report
The sea bass are on fire in 25 to 60 ft of water and the deeper the water, the bigger they are. The Gags are hungry but ya gotta release them unharmed, same goes for the Red Snapper. The Red Grouper are still hard to find and due to weather conditions, we haven’t tried fishing out passed 60 ft. I look for them to turn on here in March. Then we should see the Spanish Mackerel show up, then kings and cobia. So, come on down its fixing to get exciting.
So come on down and wet a line, warm weather is heading our way.
Till next time “Safe boating n tight lines”
