Cedar Key Florida Inshore Fishing Report
The cold weather and water have pushed the redfish more into the back marsh and creeks but on nice warmer days they can be caught around the islands and oyster bars. The trout are biting good in 3 to 5 ft of water on the grass flats and cuts. Fish a little slow and be patient. The sheepshead are hitting now around the docks and rock piles, we use shrimp on a jig head or a knocker rig and 3-5/0 hook, they also love fiddler crabs. The whiting and sand trout are hitting good too, using shrimp, gulps and cut mullet.
Cedar Key Florida Offshore Fishing Report
The gag grouper are biting good in 30 to 60 ft of water, but you must release them unharmed, threadfins, sardines and cut mullet are working good. The AmberJacks are also hitting good but you also have to release them unharmed. The red grouper are still hard to find but the numbers are climbing and the size is increasing. The sea bass are everywhere, they are larger in 50-75 ft on hard bottom and live bottom areas and they are hitting on any frozen bait. The sheepshead should be starting to bite on the offshore structures any day now.
So come on down and wet a line, warm weather is heading our way.
Till next time “Safe boating n tight lines”
