The Largemouth bass bite on the Ocklawaha River has improved over the past month. Typically, August is one of our least productive months for Bass fishing, but as they say there is an exception for every rule.
On our last few trips, we’ve caught and released several limits of Largemouth, between 3 to 5 lbs., including one lunker a little over 7 lbs.. Excellent for this time of year.
Best bet is to get out there as early as possible for the morning bite, and fish the heavy cover. As always, wild shiners are the best bait, either free lined or fished under a float.
