Silck ChartersThe size and numbers of Largemouths being caught on the Ocklawaha River is up. On our most recent trips over half the Bass caught have been over 4 lbs. Not bad for April! I’m looking forward to the post spawn bite to get even better as summer approaches. Lately the best bite has been very early, although I expect the p.m. bite to improve over the next few weeks.

The waters on the Ocklawaha River are gin clear, which makes it an ideal spot to sight fish Largemouths. Although fishing in clear water makes the bite window extremely short (either early morning or late afternoon), there is nothing like casting to a fish, and watching it attack your bait. On more than one occasion I’ve had to remind clients to breathe while watching a huge Largemouth approach their bait. Guaranteed to get your attention.

Pictured below are a few of our most recent clients and their catches.

‘Til next time…see you on the Rivers!

I remember videoing a fishing trip with you and Doug a few years back and watching a Pike grab a shiner in the clear water, it was cool to watch.
