Cedar Key Florida Inshore Fishing Report

Winter is trying to show itself and the Speckled Trout love it. Fish the shallow grass flats, fishing beyond snake key is always a safe bet and the oyster bars and cuts too. When its cold, use a jig head with shrimp or your favorite plastic baits and jig back to you slowly. Also try the popping corks and see what is working best.

The Redfish are still hitting good but as soon as the real cold hits it will push them back to the warmer marshes. Soon the Sheepshead should be biting and remember the black drum like it cold too.

Cedar Key Florida Offshore Fishing Report

The Grouper are biting better and the large Red Grouper are still hard to come by but the Gags are biting in 40 to 60 feet using live bait, frozen threadfins, mullet or your favorite baits.

The sea bass and grunts will eat any of the frozen baits, if you use a two-hook chicken rig you can get 2 at a time. The King Fish are still here but look for them to leave and follow the bait south. The Amber Jacks are biting good, but you must release them unharmed. The Sheepshead should be biting soon on the nearshore rock piles.

So come on down to Cedar Key and enjoy the cooler weather and hot bite.
