Steinhatchee Fishing & Scalloping Report, It’s All About The Scallops Now

It is all about the Scallop right now. My last two inshore fishing trips have been sorry. I started to make something up, but I’m not a very good liar. Besides I’ve been Scalloping mostly. It’s been great, I’ve been nine times this July and we’ve gotten our limit eight out of the nine.

The Pepperfish Key area is the place with the cleanest water and Scallops right now. By far, the best visibility is up toward Keaton Beach, I have not been able to find Scallops there however. We are hoping that area will magically clear up. We know the shellfish are there. But I think I stated in my last report that if you can’t see ’em, you can’t pick ’em up.

So meanwhile we go south to Pepperfish. Which reminds me to say be careful. I have seen snorkelers swimming to far from their boat and drivers going too close and too fast to others.
