Our last several Largemouth Bass trips have been fairly productive. Although we have not seen large numbers of fish, the one’s we’ve caught have been really nice. Lots of 5 lb.ers and very few under the legal limit, 14 inches.
Recently the invasive plants, mainly Hydrilla and Coontail Moss, have made getting fish to the boat a challenge. The Middle Ocklawaha River has been very low and slow over the past year, which has promoted the growth of these non-native water plants.
Hopefully the recent rainfall and higher water level will slow their growth. As summer approaches, look for the bite to slow especially during the mid-day hours. As usual, get there early for best results.
