cedar key fishing guideCedar Key Inshore Fishing Report

Hi all, in Cedar Key the speckled trout are still plentiful on the grass flats in 3 to 5 feet of water and seem to be moving in front of north key and sea horse key. The Spanish Mackerel are there as well, both the speckled trout and Spanish mackerel are hitting on live shrimp, mud minnows and frozen finger mullet. Also all the different flavors of gulp are working too. The red fish have also moved in around the oyster bars and pass’s and up close to the islands. There has been some reports of snook being caught as well near the docks and bridges.

Cedar Key offshore Fishing Report

The kingfish are here and lots of nice sized fish are being caught using threadfins, blue runners and trolling stretch 25’s. The cobia have showed up as well, they can’t resist live pin fish or gulp eels. The cobia and kings have been caught in 18 to 35 feet of water, look for the birds and bait pods, there are plenty. The gag grouper are on fire but you must release them unharmed. The red grouper are scared acting but they are there mostly in 40 to 50 feet of water on live and hard bottom areas using any of your favorite frozen baits. Live bait seems to work best for the gags, of course the grunts are plentiful and the Spanish Mackerel are also on the reef.

Till next time, tight lines & safe boating
