Cedar Key Florida Inshore Fishing Report
In between the wind & the waves, the Speckled Trout have been biting great, as well as the Redfish. This time of year, the trout are getting bigger and are more active in 3 to 5 ft of water on all the area’s grass flats and bars. We are using popping corks, plastics and shrimp. Keep the baits about 6” off the bottom and keep popping it, they love the sound. The Redfish love cut mullet, plastics, and shrimp, the big black drum are hitting too. The Spanish Mackerel are biting good out on the flats as well. We look for the Cobia to start running in close any day now on the flats or up by the markers, they will hit just about anything, but they can’t resist live bait.
Cedar Key Florida Offshore Fishing Report
The Kings and Spanish Mackerels are here, and the Gag Grouper and Red Snapper are biting good but you gotta release them unharmed.
The Amberjacks come into season May 1st, so next week and it should be fun, fishing for Cobia, Kings, Amberjacks and trying for Red Grouper but catching n releasing Red Snapper & Gag’s. We have been getting our best bite in 50-70 ft of water, there are fish in closer, but the bigger ones are deeper, plus that is where you’re gonna find Amberjacks.
Till next time “Safe boating n tight lines”
