Crystal River, Yankeetown Fishing Report
From Captain Nick?
Friday, Oct. 10, we fished the A.M. incoming tide about 20 miles off the Citrus County Coast for Grouper and Cobia.
?
We? didn’t have much luck with the Grouper, but did manage to catch a few Cobia, along with plenty of Key? West “Pinkmouth” Grunts, and Spanish Mackerel.
?
We used pinfish and shrimp, fished both on the bottom, and free lined.
?
About 11 A.M. the tide topped out, so we decided to try our luck with the Trout further inshore. Ran in to the Grassflats just off the Levy County Coast, “Lowes Bay”, and started fishing in about 4 feet of water.
?
Caught at least 50 Trout between 14 and 21 inches, and lost 1 wallhanger at boatside that looked to be over 5 lbs.?
?
For the Spotted Sea Trout we used a 3/8 oz. pink and white jig, fished under a Cajun Thunder, “Rattling Float”.
?
By days end we had? in our cooler our limit in Trout ,(15),? 16 nice Keywest Grunts, had caught and released over 50 other fish, and considered ourselves lucky we had spent a beautiful day fishing on the Gulf of Mexico .
??????????????? Remember:
**The time you spend on the water doesn’t count against you**.
