Cedar Key Inshore Fishing Report
The redfish are still biting great around the bars and close to all of the islands using jig heads or popping corks with live shrimp or mud minnows and frozen finger or cut whole mullet.
The Speckled trout are starting to bite again and we look for it to get better as the water temperature. goes down as well.
The Spanish mackerel are in too around the deeper grass flats and out on sea horse reef. Be sure to use at least 20 lb wire or 60 lb mono leaders or those toothy critters will bite through your line. We have been using shrimp or cut finger mullet and setting out a chum bag and wait for them to come to us.
There are still plenty of sharks to play with and they are ranging from 2 ft to 5 ft in length, just set out a chum bag and rig your line with at least 80 lb wire and a 7 to 10/0 hook with most any kind of frozen bait you prefer, I like cut whole mullet, menhaden or threadfin herring.

Cedar Key Offshore Fishing Report
The grouper bite is still slow but some days they are doing well. The gag grouper are in 25 ft to 60 ft and the red grouper seem to be in 45 ft to 60 ft. They seem to be hitting best on threadfin herring, sardines and cut mullet or live pinfish. I look for the bite to really pick up here soon, as the water temp went to 78 deg last week.
The Spanish are around in 10 to 30 ft and I haven’t caught a King yet this September but they should be here. We still have been catching mahi mahi in 50 to 60 ft, so keep some small tackle ready with 3 to 5/0 hooks and NO WEIGHT, when you see em, start chunking cut bait and cast away and have fun.
