October Cedar Key Inshore Fishing Report
The Redfish are still on fire around North Key, Sea Horse and Deadmans key and around the bars and back marsh areas. People are using mullet, shrimp and pinfish. The Speckled Trout have turned on too, in the grass flats and cuts, using popping corks with shrimp, pinfish and your favorite plastic baits. On south side of snake key is usually a favorite area, but around any of the island there are plenty of good flats to fish. The Triple Tail are biting good to around the markers, floating debris and lease areas, just be careful & respectful there. The Tarpon have been jumping too, they love live bait and mullet too. The Sharks are plentiful and a blast to catch and release. With the cooler weather approaching, the bite is only gonna get better too. You gotta come on down and enjoy the fun.
October Cedar Key Offshore Fishing Report
The Grouper are biting good in 45 to 60 feet on the hard bottom & live bottom areas and the Red Grouper are still hard to get in the keeper size. We have went out to 95 feet and still not much luck but the Mango Snapper have been biting and are on fire, they will hit frozen threadfins, sardines and they love the smaller pinfish. The Amberjacks are hungry and we have till the end of the month to catch em. Trigger fish are in open till the 26th too. We also got a couple Cobia in the deeper waters, they eat anything when they are there. The King Fish are here too in 35 to 50 ft, you can slow troll for them or we just set a free line out back while bottom fishing and kill 2 birds with one stone. As the water temp continues to cool, the Grouper bite will get even better and come in closer to shore too. The Sea Bass bite will start getting bigger next month, they love cut chunks of sardines & threadfins. Some guys have been doing good on Spanish Mackerel too off the south east side of Sea Horse Reef in the 8-12 feet of water, set out a chum bag and fish some free lining and some on the bottom. The fishing is great right now, so come and get ya some.
Till next time “Safe boating n tight lines”
