Steinhatchee Fishing GuideHi Steinhatchee Friends, what great fishing we’re having and I expect to have for a while.
Speckled Trout are feeding good right now and my guess is they are engaged in mating rituals, or getting ready to. Tuesday 4 of 5 trout were males, they were drumming. I’m sure they have to eat more during this time. Now we could have a lot of fun with conversation, but lets not and say we did, HaHa. The large females have bit well also, I’m sure the same applies. Trout seem to be everywhere, shallow and deep flats where grass is present. However, if you are not catching keeper size fish you need to move.
Redfish have been a lot of work. The last few weeks I could find them, but could not get bit except for 1 or 2 a trip. Cool water I think. Then finally Tuesday we had a 9 Red day, and of course the water temp was up to 71.
I think spring may finally be here. Even if we do have a cold snap it shouldn’t be enough to set us backwards.
As the water warms everything that swims will begin to show up. The action on the flats will be nonstop, Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Seabass, Spanish Mackerel, Cobia, Tarpon, Bluefish, Ladyfish, Jack Crevalle …  I’m sure I left something out but you get idea.
