Ocklawaha River Fishing Continues To Be Outstanding

Fishing on the Ocklawaha River has continued to be outstanding over the past month. Lots of Bass in the 4 to 6 pound range, as well as multiple fish over 7 pounds on just about every trip. Most of the Largemouths landed recently have been fat with roe. As I mentioned on the previous report, it’s the time of year when practicing catch and release is most important. Cedar Key Offshore Fishing Report

Here’s a quicky offshore report. The gags are still biting but we can’t keep em. The red grouper are biting well in 45 to 60 ft and we’re using threadfin herring, northern mackerel and live bait. The  Amber Jack’s are plentiful around the wrecks and strong structure areas. We also caught a 30lb Kingfish and 4 bull Redfish that were over 36″ as well. Cedar key Inshore Fishing Report

December 10, 2013

The Speckled Trout & Sand Trout are biting good in both back marsh area and on the flats in about 3 to 5 ft of water. The Redfish are doing well in the same area but are closer to the islands and oyster bars. We’re using Popping corks and fishing on the bottom using a 1/4 oz jig head tipped w/ shrimp or finger mullet.
