The Largemouth bite on the Ocklawaha River has exploded over the past few weeks. The number, as well as the size of fish caught, has greatly increased. Most of the Bass are running between 3 and 6 lbs., with the occasional wall hanger over 8 lbs..
Several fish recently caught were fat with roe, and getting ready to spawn. We recommend that during this period that anglers practice catch and release. This ensures there will be plenty of fish for future generations.
On our most recent trip, 11/25, Richard James and son Richard Jr.(pictured below), caught and released over a dozen Largemouths, including a 7 and 8 lb. lunker. Way to go guys! Hope to fish with you again in the near future.
Until next time … see you on the River!
