Cedar Key Inshore Fishing Report
The speckled trout are still biting great on the grass flats in three to four and a half feet of water using popping corks and jig heads with shrimp, gulps, or your favorite soft baits.
The Spanish mackerel are biting good too using the same methods as the trout or with 1/8 oz jig free lining and it helps if you put out a chum bag too.
The redfish are doing well on incoming tides up around the islands, oyster bars and cuts between the bars, using jig heads with shrimp, mud minnows, finger mullet or cut whole mullet.
The cobia showed up pretty good this last weekend around inshore rock piles, channel markers and close reef structures. We had best luck with live pins, but gulp eels on a buck-tail jig and tube lures work well too, they love to chase something moving away from them. We fish two on the bottom and keep pitching a lure and keep a live pin ready to pitch when we spot one, it’s a blast when they crush your bait.

Cedar Key Offshore Fishing Report
The red grouper is still elusive but we expect them to return soon. The gags and snapper have been plentiful but must be released unharmed.
The grunts and sea bass are biting great using squid and sardines.
The kings showed up this week, some people like to slow troll plugs or live bait, we just set out a free line with a frozen threadfin or live bait, while bottom fishing so we do waste time and the kings are generally around good hard bottom & live bottom areas.
The cobia are around as well, so keep a pitch rod ready for when a cobia shows up.
