Cedar Key Inshore Fishing Report
The trout have been a little finicky, but are biting in 6 to 10 feet of water over grass flats and out by the reef and fishing on the bottom, slow jigging with shrimp or gulp baits. The redfish are biting good around the islands and oyster bars, the bite seems best on incoming tide and live baits or mullet also seem to be the best. We also have had a lot of triple tail being caught around markers, buoys and floating debris, using shrimp free lined to them. The sharks are plentiful and a lot of fun too.
Cedar Key Offshore Fishing Report
Well, snapper season is over, but they’re still here, just release them unharmed, they’re plentiful in 50 to 80 feet of water on good hard and live bottom areas and they love cut threadfins and sardines. The gags are playing hard to get, but they are in 25 to 80 feet of water, using cut baits and live bait. Some divers have been getting nice hogfish and gags when they won’t bite. The red grouper are also playing hard to get but we are catching some in 50 to 70 feet on live bottom areas. There are still some kings and Cobia around but they’re not so plentiful. We also are still getting some nice sized sea bass in 60 feet of water using sardines.
So come on down and enjoy the fun.
