This Slick Charters Customers Is All Smiles

May 16, 2019

The Largemouth bite on the Ocklawaha River has been outstanding lately, especially in the early morning hours. From the upper parts of the River near Ocala, to the Rodman Reservoir at Orange Springs, the bass bite has been on fire over the past few months. Early morning has been the best of it. For the first 2 to 3 hours the number of bites all depends on how fast you can get your bait in the water! I expect the window of opportunity will ebb with the fast approaching summer months, so get them while the getting is good. My […]

Bass Fishing On The Ocklawaha River Has Been Outstanding

A Fine Ocklawaha Largemouth Bass

November 19, 2018

Bass fishing on the Ocklawaha River has been outstanding over the past few months. When you lose track of how many fish are caught on a given day, that is my definition of a good trip! Lot’s of 3 to 5 pounders, with the ocassional wallhanger over 8 pounds, has been the norm over the past several trips. Hopefully this outstanding bite will continue. This is a great time of year to be fishing in beautiful Ocala/Marion County. Pictured above is another Ocklawaha Largemouth bass complete with happy angler. Until next time, see you on the River! The first place I fished this morning netted 5 Bass in 5 minutes with a total weight of 23 pounds! I hated to leave, but I had to check out several other spots. After running through 2 dozen shiners, I wound up catching and releasing a dozen Largemouths. The total weight was around 40 pounds, including […]

The Largemouth Bass Are Spawned Out And Hongry … Yes, Hongry!

April 18, 2018

The first spawning cycle of 2018 is coming to a close on the middle Ocklawaha River near Ocala. Although all the Largemouths don’t spawn at the same time, most of the Bass we have caught recently have spawned out, and they are hungry. Lots of 3 to 5 pound fish with the occasional wall hanger has been the norm over our last few trips, and the bite continues to improve. I expect this trend to continue over the next month or so. Best bite time has been early until about 10 a.m., depending on the weather. Great time to book […]
