The First Spawning For 2017 Is About To Begin!

The Largemouth bite has been excellent throughout December. Most of the fish caught recently have averaged about 3 lbs., with the occasional wall hanger over 7 lbs.. We’re beginning to see a few beds here and there and I expect the first spawning of 2017 is about to begin. Speaking of 2017, Happy New Year to one and all! Until next time, see you on the River! Cedar Key Fish Are Still Biting

Cedar Key Inshore Fishing Report The Cedar Key speckled trout are on fire on the grass flats in 3.5 to 5 feet of water. We’re using popping corks and a 1/4oz jig head with live shrimp or gulp baits. Keep it just off the bottom, we usually drift some till we start catching pretty steady, then go back and anchor. The redfish can get challenging in winter, they like to move back to the warmer creeks in the Marsh area but you can still get them in the afternoon on your favorite bar areas.
