Huge Ocklawaha River Largemouths Are Schooling Up

Over the past week or so, we’ve had several trips that netted good numbers of huge Ocklawaha River Largemouths. Many of the Bass caught recently have been over 5 lbs.. On Saturday afternoon, I had the pleasure of taking Kevin C., and his sons Mason (11) and Konnor (13), on one of our Sunrise/Sunset Special Bass Charters. These trips are only 2 hours in duration, and depart the dock either very early in the a.m., or late in the afternoon. Trophy Size Largemouths On Central Florida’s Ocklawaha River

The Largemouth bass bite on Central Florida’s Ocklawaha River has continued to improve over the past few weeks.  On a recent trip, Wednesday, 10/19, we caught our limit of Largemouths (10) in about 3 hours, one of which weighed almost 8 lbs.. Although we are not getting big numbers of fish, overall the ones we’ve been catching have been “Trophy Size Largemouths”. Recently the Bass have been biting better in the p.m. hours, and the rainfall we’ve had over the last few weeks has the river up, and the Bass chasing the bite. Until next time…see you on the River! Schooling Redfish Are On The Move

Schools of Redfish have been spotted in numerous locations off the Dixie, Levy and Citrus County coasts. September and October are the best months to go for that Trophy Redfish in Florida’s Big Bend region. Huge schools of “breed stock” Redfish run inshore up the creeks and rivers near Steinhatchee, Horseshoe, Suwannee, Cedar Key, Waccasassa, Yankeetown and Crystal River to lay their eggs this time of year, then it’s’ back to the deep water.
