Long Trip Yields Results

November 30, 2010

Went out to 95 ft, for the last weekend of snapper fishing, after the long 57 mile trip, they started bitting right away, then slacked off, moved around alittle. Ended up with 7 nice snapper and 7 nice grouper. we had better luck with menhaden and sardines, than live bait. On the way in we stopped in 70 ft and the red grouper were on fire, we only stayed for 30 minuntes, had to get back in, all were happy and had plenty of fish. Till Next Time, Good Luck, Tight Lines and Safe Boating Captain John Blouse This Cedar […]

The Largemouth bite was off a bit during the first couple of weeks in November. After 3 months of outstanding Bass fishing we had finally hit a lull. More recently the Largemouth bite has improved, although we haven’t seen many fish over 5 lbs. yet. On our most recent trip ( 10/26) Mr. Rob Smith, and his son Harry. caught and released over a dpzen “Ocklawaha Largemouths”. Not bad for a lull. I expect the Bass to begin their pre-spawn bite anytime now. This is by far the best time of year to catch big numbers of Trophy Largemouths. Pictured […]

Florida Big Bend Friends, November is a Good Month for Large Speckled Trout

November 23, 2010

If you are a regular on outdoorupdate.com you know I have not posted a report in a while. Yes, I have been busy and I had some outboard issues that kept me distracted for a couple of months. We finally broke down and contributed to local economic stimulus, albeit, kicking and screaming. I bought a new Yamaha 150 four stroke from BIG BEND MARINE Perry, FL. I like it a lot. I don’t have to tell you what the fall weather has been like. Beautiful, would describe it. We had our autumn run of large Spanish Mackerel, which has tapered […]

Mid November Cedar Key Fishing Report, 10 miles offshore

November 18, 2010

We had a charter of 4, on a half day trip, headed to 25-28 ft of water. It was kinda rough and “one didn’t fish”, but the other three had fun with plenty of keeper sea bass, grunts and 2 nice keeper grouper, with a few shorts that were released unharmed. The bite was good and steady, we didnt have any live bait and I bet we would have done better with pin’s. All were happy, and I look for the keeper gags to be in 28–40 ft here from now on, but the reds will be in deeper water. […]

Another Trophy Largemouth Bass

November 6, 2010

On Wednesday, 11/3, Mr. Bill Andrews and his friend Mike took a trip with us in search of that “Trophy Largemouth”. Bill and Mike had fished with me before, almost a year ago to the day, and are both avid fishermen. This came in real handy when Bill latched onto a huge “Ocklawaha Largemouth”. The fish exploded on a wild shiner within inches of some very thick cover, and the fight was on. All I could think about was the 12 pound test line we use when fishing such clear shallow water. Bill kept his cool and worked the fish […]
