Early Fall Bass Bite – If you’re after that “Lunker Largemouth”, now is the time.

October 23, 2010

What started off as a good early fall Bass bite has become one for the record books. Trip after trip our clients have been catching Largemouths in the 3 to 5 lb. range, typically finishing off the trip with a lunker between 6 and 8 lbs. Phil and Nancy Becker of Ocala took a half day trip with us on Wednesday, 10/20, that was no exception. Phil caught a half dozen Bass with a total weight of about 20 lbs.. Like a true sportsman, Phil released the “Big Fish” of the day, an 8 pound Trophy Largemouth. Outstanding for any […]

Mid October Cedar Key Fishing Report

October 22, 2010

On an half day trip we fished from the edge of Sea Horse reef to out as far as 50 ft in depth. Out past marker 1 on the southeast side of sea horse, in 12-15 ft dept, the mackerel are as thick as thieves. We just used a chum block, also had 1 or 2 lines on a Cajun Thunder cork, 100# leader, #5 circle hook and 1 or 2 lines using 1/4 oz sinker and the same leader & hook, and we had all the fun you can stand, we caught about 125 lbs of Mack’s, some lady […]

Clearwater Bass

October 15, 2010

Mr. Howard Coda, of Waldo FL, along with 2 of his fishing partners, Dan and Ehane, caught several nice Bass between 2 and 6 pounds on Monday, 10/11. Although we didn’t set any records, the majority of Bass caught were quality fish, and the scenery is second to none. The waters of the Ocklawaha River north of Ocala are pristine clear this time of year, and you can literally watch the fish swim up and take the bait! “Like fishing in an aquarium”. Mr. Coday, a native of Oklahoma, said it was one of the most beautiful rivers he had […]

The Trout Are In The Grass Flats

October 15, 2010

My apologies for the way over due salt water fishing report. Honestly, over the last few months we’ve had few salt water fishing inquiries, likely due to the spill, and or the economy. Fortunately, the fishing in our area was not effected by either. We made a short re-con trip on Tuesday, 10/12, and found plenty of Trout on the grass flats just north of Yankeetown, although most of them were small. This area just off the Levy County Coast is south of Cedar Key and is well known for Sea Trout, Red Fish, Tarpon, and a wide variety of […]
