It’s all about the timing

July 30, 2009

The Early Bird Gets the Bite Fish! Lots of schooling Bass on the Ocklawaha River near Ocala, although the bite has slowed. It’s all about the timing. If you can get out early enough, the fish will cooperate, but the “window of opportunity” is short. Lately we’ve caught some really nice fish but the bite tapers off after about 8 a.m.. The early bird gets the fish! This Ocklawaha Fishing Report From Ocklawaha Fishing Guide Captain Nick

Steinhatchee activities dominated by scallop trips

July 30, 2009

Scallops Dominate Our activities continue to be dominated by scallop trips. Which is a good thing. We are thankful for such a wonderful resource to enjoy and share! Adjust your departure times

July 29, 2009

You got to Adjust Although we’re still catching Fish around the Big Bend area off the Levy/Citrus County coasts, the numbers are down. Also the window of opportunity has shortened. Scalloping Good As Ever

July 22, 2009

Scalloping continues to be as good as ever. In spite of the regular rains, which we are thankful for, the flats have stayed clear. Trout fishing has been good one out of three mornings shallow. Deeper flats, 6-10ft, trout have been more dependable on days the wind lays. When the tide is right, morning Reds will cooperate. Thanks for checking in with us. God Bless and Good Fishing Captain STEVE

July 7, 2009

Steinhatchee Fishing & Scalloping Report from Steinhatchee?Scalloping Guide and Fishing Guide Captain Steve Kroll Hey fisherman and scallopers, What a pleasant surprise. The state of Florida gave us an average report or scallop count. Gainesville Sun reported the count was half of the previous year. I am not here to say they were wrong, only that the areas where they performed their data collection was not the area we are gathering scallops. We all hope that it will hold up. Mean while, I have been doing some early morning fishing trips. Our success has been mixed. Great topwater bite one?morning, […]
