BEAT THE HEAT

June 25, 2009

A Yankee Town, Florida and Crystal River Florida Fishing Report From Gulf Coast Fishing Guide Captain Nick BEAT THE HEAT It’s that time of year again folks, summer, and it looks like it’s going to be a long hot one. Record highs have already arrived, and if the water temp in the Gulf of Mexico (90 degrees) is any indication, we’re in for a very active season, storm wise that is. We’re currently running a “Beat the Heat Special”, basically a half day fishing charter that begins around 6:30 a.m.. and ends before noontime. The fishing has been exceptional, although […]

Captain Steve’s Fishing Report & His Luxury Problem

June 16, 2009

Steinhatchee Fishing Reports from Steinhatchee Scalloping Guide and Fishing Guide Captain Steve Kroll Hey Big Bend fisherman I first want to mention the offshore fishing. It’s been great, especially now that red snapper are legal to keep. I have seen some real nice catchs at the dock. Inshore has been very productive as well. Trout have been big. These guys were really on top of their game.  As well as being avid fishermen, they are true sportsmaen and released every fish.   Good for you guy’s.  Hope I get to fish with you again soon!   […]

Don’t Miss The Boat

June 12, 2009

Record numbers of Largemouth Bass are presently being caught on the Ocklawaha River. More schooling Bass than I could count surrounded my boat on two separate occasions this week. I actually lost count on how many we caught on our trip today, June 11. Most of these schoolers are under the legal limit, but there are a considerable number of keepers moving with them. Several of the Bass we caught were over 5 lbs. The schooling Bass will bite almost any fast moving “twitch”type bait you throw at them, while the larger ones prefer, as always, wild shiners. Now’s the […]
