Its Cool Out in Cedar Key and Suwannee But the Fish Are There.

November 21, 2008

To get a Cedar Key and Suwanee, Florida Fishing Report I called Don at Cedar Key Marina. He says that big trout are being caught and that the Sheep Head are going like gang busters. He was at the Cedar Key pier yesterday and a man had caught some 24 trout and ended up catching his limit from the pier. He also said people were catching good Sheep Head by the pilings. Don wondered over to the docks and all the charters came back with good catches. Several had 25lb Red Grouper on them. One had a Bonita and a good size […]

Timing is Everything!

November 19, 2008

Timing is Everything! Had several productive days last week fishing the lower,(down river), end of the Ocklawaha River…   Been launching at Gores Landing, just south of Ft.McCoy and fishing both north and south of the ramp.   Lot’s of Large Mouth Bass action, and some of the most aggressive bites I’ve seen in some time..   Also, lots of snags across the river. I wouldn’t recommend launching here unless you have an extremely shallow draft boat!   Certain times of the year, the Bass will start to bed..Just prior to that there will be a pre-spawn bite…That time is NOW……….. It’s a Dirty Job, but Somebody’s got to do it!

November 18, 2008

Go Gators!!! FL 56 – other?6 I’ve been quite busy over the past week. Had five fishing trips in the past 8 days. “Dirty job, but somebody’s got to do it”! Three out of the five were saltwater trips, fishing the grass flats off the Levy/Citrus County Coast for Spotted Sea Trout. Lots of limits and several Gator Trout (over 20 inches) caught recently. Best bite seems to be on the outgoing tide. Best bait seems to be a jig, fished under the deadly “Cajun Thunder”. If you’re looking for that huge “Gator Trout”, now is the time to book your […]

Another Tough Weather Week!

November 17, 2008

Another tough weather week! Cool water and high winds made fishing challenging. However, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Pot hole fishing was the way to go, at least in the morning. We managed to catch some really nice Trout this week. Three 6 lbs or better! Two were released after photos, because we already had our limit of “over 20″s” (1 per person) in the box. We fished mainly with Salt Water Assassin jigs on SWA 1/16oz jigheads. Redfishing was good this week also, with limits most days and several bonus Reds,(caught and released). Attached are […]

Wild Shiners, either you got’em or need’em!

November 13, 2008

Did a little recon trip on the Ocklawaha River early this week. Never hurts to try something new so we decided to launch at “Gores Landing”, just south of Salt Springs in the Ocala National Forest, rather than our usual spot at the Ray Wayside Park on Hwy. 40, east of Ocala. Ran into several large snags south of the ramp so we turned around and headed north to a spot that looked like it might hold a few Bass. Hadn’t fished this part of the river in quite some time, and I really wasn’t expecting much…Within 30 seconds of […]
