Offshore Fishing For Cedar Key, Florida For April 2nd & 3rd
The water temp was 63 degrees at the ramp, dropped to 62 degrees out in 45-58 ft of water but it warmed up to 63 degrees in afternoon.
The gag grouper, sea bass and Florida snapper (grunts) are biting good in 50 to 60 ft of water. It’s been hard to find any keeper red grouper in these depths. I believe there still out deeper, but there is plenty of shorts to catch and release. Haven’t seen any kings or cobia yet. nor is there a lot of bait pods, as soon as water temp. hits 68 to 72 degrees, things will change, maybe 1 or 2 weeks away.
We did catch some quality gags though, 12-15 lb’s. we did use some frozen?mullet & thread fins and cigar minnows but the bait of choice was live pinfish & porgies.
Good luck and tight lines

Middle Grounds Fishing Report
This Off Shore Cedar Key, Florida Fishing Report is From Cedar Key Grouper Guide Captain John
MIDDLE GROUNDS OFFSHORE OVER NITE TRIP
Bait: sardines, thread fin hering, live pin & pig fish
Left the dock around 10:30 am Sunday, with 2-4 ft sea and a 15 kt west wind, it was alittle rough, but we made the 80 mile run in about 3.5 hrs.
1st stop at a wreck, was on fire, amber jacks and grouper, lost some real big fish then the sharks moved in, so we moved on.
Next was some vermilion snapper, mango snapper and porgies, bite was a little slow in afternoon.
Next went to our nite time spot, cooked dinner, got lites all set up, and started fishin. The maongo?s were on fire and red grouper, then red snapper moved in and you could barely get your line down without them snatchin your rod out of your hand.
By 2 am we were limited out on, red snapper & mangos and went to sleep.
Woke up, hit another wreck, and wham, nothing but 20 plus lb red grouper, in 15 minutes we were limited out.
9 am headed back to the dock.
We caught 3 keeper amber jacks ( 40lb each) , 8 red snaper, 32 mangos, 30 vermilon snapper, 8 red grouper, some trigger fish and porgies. Plus we must of thrown back 30 keeper red snaper and red grouper, remember their being over fished! Ya rite.
CEDAR KEY LOCAL OFFSHORE
THE BITE IS GOOD FOR , GROUPER , KING FISH, COBIA, IN 45 —-75 FOOT OF WATER
BAIT OF CHOICE IS LIVE PIN FISH, BUT SARDINES, THREAD FIN HERING, CUT MULLET & MEHADEN WORK GREAT TOO.
WHILE YOUR BOTTOM FISHIN FOR GROUPER, ALWAYS THROW OUT BACK A FREE LINE, RIGGED WITH WIRE LEADER, #9 CIRCLE HOOK WITH A WIRE STINGER WITH TREBLE HOOK, USE A SARDINE, THREADFIN OR LIVE BAIT.MAKE SURE TO LEAVE YOUR DRAG SET LOOSE, SO THE KING CAN RUN AND NOT PULL THE HOOK, HANG ON AND ENJOY THE FIGHT!

It’s All Good
A Yankee Town, Florida and Crystal River Florida Fishing Report
From Gulf Coast Fishing Guide Captain Nick
IT’S ALL GOOD
Warmer than usual temperatures for this time of year have the Pelagics, as well as other species, moving in close off the Levy/Citrus County coasts.
Good numbers of Gag Grouper, Cobia, and Spanish Mackerel have recently been taken, as well as Trout and Redfish.
Last week, we limited out on both Gags and Cobia about 18 miles west of Yankeetown/Crystal River. Two of the 6 Cobia caught were over 30 lbs, and the Grouper ranged from 5 to 15 pounds. All were caught on Pinfish.
I haven’t actually fished the Flats recently, but a reliable source tells me that Trout and Mackerel are all over the Grass just north of the Withalacoochee River, aka The Trout Stake Area.
Far as I can tell, It’s all good.

The Last Two Weeks Have Been A Blast
Steinhatchee Fishing Reports from
Steinhatchee Fishing Guide Captain Steve Kroll
Hey, Big Bend Flats Fisherman, The last two weeks have been a blast.
Big Trout and Big Reds! Over 20 inch Trout limits have been common with 3 in the last 2 weeks over 25 inches long. On the boga scale, one of those went over 6 lbs.
My parties and I have caught these fish on Saltwater Assassin 5″ shads on 1/16 oz SWA jigheads, also cutbait, mainly pinfish, locally known as shiner tails.
Redfish are still bunched up and easily missed, and somedays have been finicky to bite. But oversize reds have been common on the flats.
Do your best to keep the fight short, snap a couple photos and get them back into the water, hold by the tail until the fish swims out of your hand.
Top all that off with Cobia on the flats, Spanish Macks, big Bluefish and Jack Crevalle, You are sure to get your string pulled.
Come see us in Steinhatchee and Enjoy God’s creation and his?Good fishing
God Bless, Good Luck and Good Fishing
