Cedar Key Offshore Fishing Report

cedar key fishing guideHere’s a quicky offshore report.

The gags are still biting but we can’t keep em.

The red grouper are biting well in 45 to 60 ft and we’re using threadfin herring, northern mackerel and live bait. The  Amber Jack’s are plentiful around the wrecks and strong structure areas. We also caught a 30lb Kingfish and 4 bull Redfish that were over 36″ as well.

We’ve had great weather and fishing of late so come on down and have a fun day on the water in Cedar Key, Florida.

Cedar key Inshore Fishing Report

cedar key fishing guideThe Speckled Trout & Sand Trout are biting good in both back marsh area and on the flats in about 3 to 5 ft of water.

The Redfish are doing well in the same area but are closer to the islands and oyster bars. We’re using Popping corks and fishing on the bottom using a 1/4 oz jig head tipped w/ shrimp or finger mullet.

The Sheepshead are starting near the pilings and inshore rock piles, here we’re using shrimp or fiddler crabs and small sharp hooks.

Till next time, tight lines & safe boating
