Another Perfect Day with Captain Nick

A Yankee Town, Florida and Crystal River Florida Fishing Report
From Gulf Coast Fishing Guide Captain Nick

Caught a break in the wind Friday, 4/24, and ran offshore about 20 miles west of Yankeetown to fish for Grouper/Cobia.

Hadn’t been to this particular spot in about 2 months, and apparently neither had anyone else! Caught about a dozen Gags ranging from 5 to 10 lbs in the first hour of fishing!

Hadn’t spotted a Cobia yet, but was running low on bait and decided to move off our spot just long enough to regroup and resupply the live well with pinfish.

We returned to our original spot about 30 minutes later. No sooner than the anchor touched down, we found ourselves surrounded by Cobia!

Sight fishing Cobia…Man, it just doesn’t get much better than that.

Wound up catching several Cobia in the 20-30 lb. class, along with a few more Grouper to end Another Perfect Day!

Anticipation

From Gulf Coast Fishing Guide Captain Nick

ANTICIPATION

Although the recent winds have all but shut down the saltwater fishing around the Big Bend, we did manage to get out on Friday, 4/17.

Yes, it was blustery, but we took the airboat and confined our fishing to the shallow, protected waters around “Eleven Prong”, just south of the Waccassasa Bay Channel entrance.

Not much luck with the Redfish, but there was a fair amount of baitfish in the area.

Hopefully the winds will subside soon, and we’ll be getting back to the Grassflats for some great fishing action.

Time to get those “Cajun Thunders” rigged and ready.

Watching the sky dump buckets

A Steinhatchee, Florida Fishing Report from
Steinhatchee, Florida Fishing Guide Captain Steve Kroll

pepperfish_key_galmour_shotWatching the sky dump buckets
March Started Good, April is going to be great!

I haven’t sent a report in a while. It’s not because I didn’t have one, just the opposite.

I’m stuck in the house today watching the sky dump buckets. Thankful for it though, we’ve been dry.

It has been a great March. Business and fishing have been good. You’ll remember the last few reports, I mentioned cool and unstable?water temps.

Quality Trout and Reds are on the flats and biting, which indicates a more stable temp. Mackerel have showed. April is going to be great!

Come see us in Steinhatchee.
God Bless, Good Luck and Good Fishing
Captain STEVE
