The Bass Bite Is Slowed A Bit On The Ocklawaha

Silck ChartersBass fishing on the Ocklawaha River near Ocala has slowed a bit, although the average size of fish caught has recently increased.  The Largemouths, for the most part, have been coming off the bed over the past few weeks, and these lunker females are hungry.

The majority of fish caught on our last few trips have been between 5 and 4 pounds, not bad for May.  Although we are not getting big numbers of fish, the one’s we are getting are well worth the sacrifice.

Best bet is to fish very early or late in the day, and fish the heavy cover, that’s where they live this time of year.

Until next time, see you on the River!

The Current Ocklawaha Largemouth Bass Bite remains …

Silck ChartersThe Ocklawaha Largemouth Bass bite remains fair, although the window of opportunity is limited to two to three hours in the early a.m..(Typical for this time of year).

On our most recent trips the majority of fish caught have been full of roe, weighing between four and six pounds.

Catch and release is a must for these spawning periods.(A little conservation today will go a long way for our future anglers of tomorrow).

Pictured below are several of our most recent clients showing off their catch.

Bass Fishing on the Ocklawaha Was Excellent In February

Silck ChartersBass fishing on the Ocklawaha River was excellent throughout the month of February.  We had multiple trips with “Lunker Largemouths” over 8 lbs., caught and released.

More recently, the bite has been good, although most of the fish caught have been between 4 and 6 lbs. but it’s not bad for March.

Expect the size and number of Bass to improve in the near future as they come off the bed.

Sorry for the late report, but as you can see by the number of happy anglers pictured below, we’ve been very busy.

Thank you for your patronage, and until next time,  see you on the River!

Ocklawaha River Bass Fishing Is Outstanding and Continues To Improve

Silck ChartersBass fishing on the Ocklawaha River near Ocala has been outstanding over the past few months, and continues to improve as we move into our first spawn of the year.

The majority of Largemouth recently caught have been over 3 lbs., with multiple fish over 6 lbs. on just about every trip. This is by far the best time of year to target that Trophy Largemouth.

Expect the bite to slow a bit sometime in February while the fish go on the bed.

Ocklawaha River Fishing Continues To Be Outstanding

Silck ChartersFishing on the Ocklawaha River has continued to be outstanding over the past month. Lots of Bass in the 4 to 6 pound range, as well as multiple fish over 7 pounds on just about every trip. Most of the Largemouths landed recently have been fat with roe. As I mentioned on the previous report, it’s the time of year when practicing catch and release is most important.

To get the most out of your trip, plan on fishing just before the cold fronts and either very early or late in the day. The links below are to Mr. Wayne Woodward and a couple of Ocklawaha River lunkers
