Bass Fishing on the Ocklawaha Was Excellent In February

Silck ChartersBass fishing on the Ocklawaha River was excellent throughout the month of February.  We had multiple trips with “Lunker Largemouths” over 8 lbs., caught and released.

More recently, the bite has been good, although most of the fish caught have been between 4 and 6 lbs. but it’s not bad for March.

Expect the size and number of Bass to improve in the near future as they come off the bed.

Sorry for the late report, but as you can see by the number of happy anglers pictured below, we’ve been very busy.

Thank you for your patronage, and until next time,  see you on the River!

Ocklawaha River Bass Fishing Is Outstanding and Continues To Improve

Silck ChartersBass fishing on the Ocklawaha River near Ocala has been outstanding over the past few months, and continues to improve as we move into our first spawn of the year.

The majority of Largemouth recently caught have been over 3 lbs., with multiple fish over 6 lbs. on just about every trip. This is by far the best time of year to target that Trophy Largemouth.

Expect the bite to slow a bit sometime in February while the fish go on the bed.

Until next time … see you on the River!

Ocklawaha River Fishing Continues To Be Outstanding

Silck ChartersFishing on the Ocklawaha River has continued to be outstanding over the past month. Lots of Bass in the 4 to 6 pound range, as well as multiple fish over 7 pounds on just about every trip. Most of the Largemouths landed recently have been fat with roe. As I mentioned on the previous report, it’s the time of year when practicing catch and release is most important.

To get the most out of your trip, plan on fishing just before the cold fronts and either very early or late in the day. The links below are to Mr. Wayne Woodward and a couple of Ocklawaha River lunkers

Ocklawaha Largemouth Bite Has Exploded In The Past Weeks

Silck ChartersThe Largemouth bite on the Ocklawaha River has exploded over the past few weeks. The number, as well as the size of fish caught, has greatly increased. Most of the Bass are running between 3 and 6 lbs., with the occasional wall hanger over 8 lbs..

Several fish recently caught were fat with roe, and getting ready to spawn. We recommend that during this period that anglers practice catch and release. This ensures there will be plenty of fish for future generations.

On our most recent trip, 11/25, Richard James and son Richard Jr.(pictured below), caught and released over a dozen Largemouths, including a 7 and 8 lb. lunker. Way to go guys! Hope to fish with you again in the near future.

The Ocklawaha River Largemouth Bass Bite Remains Very Good

Silck ChartersThe Largemouth Bass bite on the middle Ocklawaha River remains very good for this time of year. We’re beginning to catch larger fish, which means our next spawning period is about to start.

On my most recent trip, October 6, the bite was very aggressive. Nothing like watching bait get knocked out of the water several times just before a lunker Largemouth inhales it!

Expect the bite to improve over the next month or so. Now’s the time to book a trip for that once in a life time Largemouth Bass.

Until next time … see you on the River!
