God Still Favors The Early Bird!

slick-charters-freshwater-glamour-shotWe fished the Ocklawaha River near Ocala Thursday, August 6, for Largemouths and did pretty fair especially for August.

Managed to get an early start, about 6:30 a.m., and caught and released about a dozen nice Bass by 10 a.m., two of which were over 5 lbs. Had to contend with lots of schoolers (small yearling Bass) killing our bait, but the action was non-stop up until about 11 a.m. .

The sun rose, and the bite was over. Glad we were in the right place at the right time….EARLY

The Early Bird Gets the Bite Fish!

slick-charters-freshwater-glamour-shotLots of schooling Bass on the Ocklawaha River near Ocala, although the bite has slowed.

It’s all about the timing. If you can get out early enough, the fish will cooperate, but the “window of opportunity” is short.

Lately we’ve caught some really nice fish but the bite tapers off after about 8 a.m.. The early bird gets the fish!
